SUMMERSIDE, PE - Over the next two weeks, residents and visitors will see the City of Summerside embarking on what is likely to be one of the most impactful city-led sport tourism undertakings in its 40-year history in the industry.

 

This week, international teams from the 2023 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge will be arriving in the City with play beginning on November 2nd at 12-noon at Credit Union Place where Team Canada will face off against Czechia with 3,000+ school students taking in the “School Day Game” sponsored by Consolidated Credit Union.

 

Following that, teams from across the country competing in the CCAA - ACSC National Soccer Championships will be arriving on November 6th with games commencing on November 8th at 10:00 AM with host team Holland College playing game one at 3:00 PM.

 

What do these events mean for Summerside?

  •  500+ visiting athletes/coaches and team staff
  •  75+ officials, National sports representatives and staff.
  •  100-200- visiting national and international scouts.
  •  50-60 visiting national and international media.
  •  $5-6 million in economic activity in our city in the shoulder season.
  •  An opportunity for our community to experience sport at a national and international level.

The Community Services Department team and division of Sport Entertainment Tourism Summerside will be working non-stop during these events to make sure they're a success, and they've been working non-stop leading up to these events for many many months.
